My hurricane rant got a response. I don't know why I'm taking the time to respond, considering the poor grammar and the fact that he'll never link back to this. Of course, the cowardly fiend posted it on his Blogspot account and disabled anonymous comments, so I couldn't respond. Screw 'im, I'll just copy and paste. His parts are in italics, my responses are in good old normal text.

So what you're saying is that the news shouldn't be covered and that the entire nation of the United States should have no clue as to how much water is in the city and the conditions.

I never said it shouldn't be covered. If you actually read my rant, you'd see that I was complaining about the attitude that it was being covered with, and the attitude that people watching it often had. Do you really think that the news stations would be covering this if they didn't think it would help their ratings?

Did you even stop to think that possibly, just possibly, by covering the horrors of this tragic disaster and showing the intensity of the real conditions that people might realize that they DO NEED TO HELP PEOPLE. When people see what's really happening, they are more motivated to donate money and if you haven't noticed yet...they put the numbers for where to donate on the screen before EVERY SINGLE commercial break.

If you need biased reporting to tell you that Hurricanes are destructive and that the Red Cross needs donations, you should just go kill yourself.

At least on Fox news they do and I vaguely remember them doing it on CNN but I didn't watch that long because of the crappy job they were doing with the coverage.

Here's a classic line from the right side of the fence: "I only trust Fox News, everything else is biased.". News flash: The other major news stations only seem biased because Fox News is so tilted to the right that anything else sounds like some bizarre Hippy-speak compared to it.

I agree with the video game part but if they are in the area where the hurricane hit, chances are that they aren't getting TV coverage.

By "In the area" I meant within driving distance of the affected area. And here's another shocker for you: If you were in the area where the Hurricane hit, you wouldn't need an idiot box to tell you that a Hurricane had hit your area.

Why was the World Trade Center worse Kevin? People purposely because of their hate for our country and their will to get rid of us killed thousands of people. It was a blatant attempt to weaken our country which it did do in the lines of business. Because of this many people showed their support for our country and sent a message (though not strong) as the best they could that this country was United and that they hadn't beaten our spirit by wearing United States flag buttons. What would be the point of a Louisiana flag pin? Nothing. An American flag would show much more unity which is it's purpose. All of the states working together to solve each other's problems. Who are we standing against with a Louisiana flag?...Mother Nature?! As for the remember Katrina...Remember Katrina=remember that natural disaster that happened and was a shame. Remember 911=remember the misplaced hatred shown towards our people that led to the purposeful killing of thousands of deaths.

Once again, my point went completely over his head. I was simply saying that people would forget about Katrina because we have no one to blame. The President can't base a war on Iran creating the Hurricane. Remember that big Tsunami that hit Indonesia? You know, the one that destroyed half of their country? You never hear about that on American news anymore, but no one ever stops talking about 9/11. In a few weeks, the same thing will happen to Katrina. And 9/11 lead to the purposeful killing of thousands of deaths? How do you kill a death?

I could link to a few thinks to counter your mindless, Patriotic drivel, but that would be like telling your little brother that there's no Santa. Sure, there are countless facts supporting your point, but with his childish mentality he's not going to listen to you.

Also gas prices effect everything. With more expensive gas, that bus you ride to school would have to take away funding from computers and schoolbooks. The busses could even stop running in the not so distant future and the fact that you live in the country will be a major inconvenience. Some people have to drive great distances for this jobs and if gas goes up too high, they won't be able to get there because they won't be able to afford to work. Can you imagine not being able to afford getting money? So it IS a big issue.

I'm aware. But America has had the cheapest gas in the world for a long time now, and in many areas we still do. After all the conversions, gas in Israel costs about $6.50 a gallon. This just means that people will have to find cheaper ways to get around. Carpool, take the bus, maybe even walk from time to time.

If you actually watched the news you'd realize that Fox News almost NEVER says "oh this is the democrat's fault". If you can give me one example, I'll stop pushing how Fox News is the superior and most balanced overall news channel. CNN on the other hand always does. If he had say gone to New Orleans the first couple of days, you would have bashed him for being there and not working on sending support so shut up. The democrats never had faith in the first place rather than picking apart the president even for things he didn't do wrong and they show no proof of. For example: "Bush is just doing the war for oil." If he was doing the war for oil for this country don't you think we'd both have more in the reserve and gas prices wouldn't be 3 bucks a gallon.

Of course they don't say it so bluntly, but anyone with at least a little bit of perception can tell that they're not as "Fair and Balanced" as they claim to be. And who cares what station was criticizing who? It's the people who are suffering from the Hurricane that matter, not some overpaid political analyst.

Just like today when I tuned in and they were discussing how the democrats now had lost faith in the president because he didn't show up in New Orleans until days after the disaster. I wonder why freaking idiot CNN people....perhaps he was working to get troops and support there which he couldn't do if he was in New Orleans being a posterboy.

When did I say anything about Bush? I said quite clearly that no one was really to blame for this, so don't pull that "You always blame Bush!" shit on me.

What bothers me is that there are countless countries under some form of Dictatorship, yet Bush picks the one with all the oil. Coincidence? I think not.

There's been something bothering me lately. All the news coverage on Hurricane Katrina. "But Kevin, without biased, propaganda fueled news coverage, how would we live?" you ask. Well, let me explain. We have all these smug news anchors talking about things like "death counts" and "estimated property damage" and watching the ratings soar while people drown! Get off your asses and go help some people! And you "on location reporters" should stop distracting the cops from their jobs by asking them stupid questions and go help some people off of their roofs! And those asshats who loot because they can (and not because they need food and water) stop stealing the latest shitty video game system from your local electronics store and go help some people off their roofs! If you're in the area, turn the TV off and go save some lives, you asshole! If you're not in the area, restrain yourself from spending all of your cash on booze, porn and shitty music and make a donation to one of the organizations that are out there saving lives! I can't stand people who treat tragedies like this like it's entertainment. These are human lives we're talking about, not a fucking movie!

This Hurricane will do more damage to lives and property than the World Trade Center attack (Which was not a "bombing". A plane is not a bomb, dumbass.), but will people start buying millions of Louisiana State Flags? Will people constantly spout "Remember Katrina" to everyone they meet? Will the President use it to justify his next corrupt war? No. In a week or so, the media will drop Katrina, and everyone who wasn't hit by it will forget. Then they'll start whining about gas prices again. Hell, they already are. I've seen tons of stories and articles about how much Katrina will affect the oil industry. These are human lives that are being extinguished by a natural disaster, and all people can do is whine about gas prices. How about you get in your dumbass gas guzzling SUVs and drive to New Orleans to lend a hand? Or would that require effort?

I can't stand these waning celebrities who decide to get some media coverage by simply saying that they feel sorry for all the people who are being killed. And then those celebrities who are holding a benefit concert. If everyone involved with the concert donated $50, it'd do a whole lot more good than some shitfest on NBC!

And then the people who go on the major news networks to cast blame or discuss the political reasons behind the hurricane. Okay people, for once, this is no one's fault! Rather than go on Foxnews and whine about how this is all the fault of the Democrats, why don't you go do something that will actual help?

Okay, I'm done. But damn, you people piss me off.

Well, I'm back. I don't have much to report this time. American Gods is an excellent book, and it has one of the most surprising endings..ever.

In Urban Dead, I got eated. I'm currently traveling clear across the world to get revived and to join up with the Emerald Guard.

It would seem that the site that made Michael Quest and the Console Fight thing has been taken down. A part of me has just died.

While I was gone, my Dad used my computer without asking and installed 100mb worth of programs that he has on his own computer onto my computer. It took forever to get rid of it all. Bastard even changed my homepage. I will murder him.

More Urban Dead News

Inoku and left the fire station and continued to travel. We stopped at a Police Station for ammo, and, due to bad weather (server overload), have been stuck for a few days now. We started searching for supplies, and Inoku managed to find a crap load of shotguns. I found a crapload of ammo for both gun types, and 4 pistols, but no shotgun. I spent over 150 AP looking, but I never found it. Until today. Now, as soon as I get some AP, I plan to run outside and scream "Eat boomstick, undead bastards!". And then I will hope that there were actually zombies around, and I wasn't screaming at some poor normal folk.

The MMO Report

Urban Dead is so cool. A few humans, including myself and Inoku, have set up a base in an abandoned fire station. As far as we know, no zombies have even come near us, but if they do, we'll be more than ready. Everyone is well armed, and the entrances are all strongly barricaded. I think "wgreat1" may be losing his grip on reality, however.

City of Heroes is going meh. I'm level 9, but it's getting harder to find a team, and when I do, it's always led by some ass who ignores the mission objective and runs after some enemies that are twice our level.

I've found another great game. "Dofus" is an excellent game, despite a laughable name. It's a strategy game along the lines of Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle, but you control one unit instead of an army, and can join teams to fight..stuff. Very awesome.

I've grown bored with Nationstates. I've gone over the 500 million population mark, but giving my nation the title of "Space Oddity" doesn't help the fact that I've done every issue at least twice, and the UN is too busy creating useless committees like the "UN Mascot Board" to do anything worth mentioning.

Once again, no surprises here.

Well, I'm back from my 14 day sabbatical. Let me describe some of the more interesting parts.

1. Saw Willy Wonka. It kicked ass.
2. Bought City of Heroes. It kicks ass. My character is an Illusion Controller. Who kicks ass.
3. Got a visit from my uncle, who bought me a crapload of books and the coolest hat ever.
4. Finally tracked down a copy of Fighter Maker 2, but I honest to god cannot see the details due to the shitty 4 inch TV screen that my father has provided for me, while he has 2 very large tvs for his own use.
5. Work on the TOS board is going well. Bjarne seems to have broken his arm, but Moses is finally on the job.
6. Bought Bomberman DS. 'Tis okay.
7. Finally beat Tales of Symphonia.
8. I'm currently reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods, which is one of the best books I've ever read.
9. Hate my sister even more.
10. Bought my mother (the only member of my immediate family that I can stand) a very nice diamond ring at a very nice price for her birthday. Oddly enough, we spent it at a waterpark and Denny's.
11. Read the newest Harry Potter book. I was a bit disappointed, but it wasn't terrible. Dumbledore dies, Snape and Malfoy are evil. There, I just saved you $20.
12. Bought the Best of David Bowie and have been listening to it constantly. "The Man who Sold the World" is missing, however.

That's about it. Well, there is this. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

Ugh. I am not in a good mood. For our class trip to Winnipeg, I brought an old camera my stepmother owned. The thing was a piece of crap. I had it out of my bag for a collective 20 minutes, and kept it in a reasonably secure section of my bag for the rest of the trip. I give it back to her, it works fine, everything's fine, right? Wrong. 3 weeks later she tells me that I broke it, and must now pay for a new one. So I'm thinking, "Okay, that doesn't even make sense, but I'll pay for a new one.". I find a camera that's almost exactly the same as the one I "broke" for $25, but my father tells me I should allow my stepmother to choose the camera she wants. Okay, whatever. Today she was speaking with my father, and suddenly started reciting a sob story about how much the camera meant to her, since it had luxurious features such as "Zoom"(she actually said that). She then quickly changed course, and began talking about a camera she had seen in the store that she liked. Okay, whatever, I think. Turns out the camera she wants is over $100. I don't own a camera. I need one, but I don't own one. So why am I paying $100 to replace a camera that was in such poor condition to begin with that it was probably worth about $15, especially when I wasn't the one who broke it?

Of course, this is the same woman who won't allow me to have friends over because "We make too much noise.", and accused me of lying when I said that getting 5 points less than what was needed to pass on my driving test wasn't considered passing.

I did not sleep at all tonight. I just didn't feel like it. Meh. Probably has to do with the 5 hours of sleep I got while doing a virus scan this afternoon. Of course, a notice came up while I slept, so the scan wasn't finished when I awoke.

Today I fooled a bunch of people on MSN by sending them jibberish text files that I saved as EXEs, then using a smilie that looked like a file transfer of "virus.exe". You'd be surprised how many people fell for it. Here were some of the better responses.

1. A death threat, a block threat, an explanation by me, and more death threats.
2. "my cmputer is potected"(sic)
3. Orders to A. Uninstall program X.
B. Format my harddrive.
C. Do a virus scan.
D. Download some inane manual spyware fix.

Also, quite a few people didn't even understand it.
